It turned out how so wrong the technology became at any given time.
My wife and I woke up early today, and ready for a brand new day at work. At 9:30 we said goodbye and parted our ways. She had to be at our Steak Escape in Crabtree Mall. I had to go to a cater job about half an hour away.
We can only communicate via text messages, because one would not be able to answer the other by phone dues to different demands from the jobs. Oh, well, we'll see each other by 2-3 in the afternoon anyways.
Beginning of a busy day?
My wife had a very busy lunch time as well. It made it a little harder when you just got back from a long and good vacation.
Maybe we shouldn't take another vacation for let say 3 more years! Yeah, right, FAT CHANCE!
Barely 1:00pm, my wife was already dead tired. Too much vacation?
Today is one of a beautiful day to be outdoor. We had a catering job set up a couple of weeks ago. We had to feed more than 500 hungry souls for the Preeminent Charter School in Raleigh. In the morning, the sky was a bright light blue with a little breeze. We prepared everything and were ready by 10:00 o'clock. The truck's gas tank was full, so as the generator's. We were excited, the 3 of us, Travis, Benito and myself. I will be the designated driver because Travis is not ready to drive the truck pulling a twenty six foot trailer yet.
Benito is at his best ...
By 10:15 we were ready to rock and roll. The school is located a mere 15 minutes from our store. It took the 3 of us another 20 minutes to start the first batch of cheese burgers and hotdogs. The line was slowly to form outside of the truck at this moment.
There were parents and children of all ages, and race, Whites, Blacks, and Hispanics. There were very few Asian in this area. I guess, the Asians for one reason or another always are doing well financially. Most of them live in those high end and desirable cities like: Wake Forrest, Chapel Hills, and Cary. At the very least, Morrisville. None wants to be in Raleigh unless they can not afford to otherwise.
Hurry up, Travis. You're too slow, man.
At noon, the sun was blaring hot. It felt like we were in the deserts somewhere in Arizona or something. We were sweating like pigs on the poles on top of the burning pit.
The ice chest for the sodas, and water bottles melted so fast, therefore no amount of ice could keep up. We always bring extra drinks for these occasions, but not good enough this time. Oh well, you can only do what you can.
Benito, where are all my hotdogs?
By 2 o'clock, our truck's cooler was completely empty. There were nothing left, food or drink. We fed the total of 600 people in 3 hours and 30 minutes. It's not bad at all for a supposedly rainy day.
We got back to the restaurant at 2:20pm. Even though we expected it to be a large crowd for a car show day, but it's overrun. There was no parking space available. Our spots for the catering trailer was gone. In its spot were 2 very classic cars of the 1930s. Each must cost more than a hundred thousand dollars at least. But hey, it's our spot for the trailer. You got to move, buddies.
By 2:45pm, I am ready to go home, man. I smell like a rotten sack of potato with too much sweat.
Our Classic Car Show Band
You guys handle the crowd, and this is it for me. Sayonara. See you on our next Classic Car Show, September 15.
